Bahia de Navidad

09 December 2008 | Bahia de Navidad, Mexico
This was our shortest passage that we have made since leaving San Diego. We arrived
Bahia De Navidad in approximately 3 hours, unfortunately, there was minimum wind, so we had to motor sail. We had a choice to take up a slip in the Marina or anchor in the Lagoon. We decided for the Lagoon for a couple of reasons; 1) our friends on s/v Freestyle were going to be in the lagoon, 2) the price of the lagoon was right! (free vs.~$100.00/day). We did not go ashore the first day because the lagoon is known for high winds picking up midday and boats dragging anchors. The wind was just started to build after we set anchor so we stayed. Jenna and Tim invited us aboard s/v Freestyle for sundowners and a great dinner. We shared stories and experiences. We made plans to go ashore the next day together. We spent the day at Grand Bay Resort, enjoying the pool and wifi :), well maybe a few drinks too! Jenna and Tim had come here last year, so they showed us around the resort, even showed us the hidden exclusive pool that no one goes too! This is an amazing five star resort! We got some great pictures of us enjoying the day. We later met up with Mary Lee and Lewis from s/v Merry Lee. Mary Lee and Lewis invited us aboard their vessel and prepared a delicious meal for us. We have been sailing with s/v Merry Lee since we left San Diego; they were also part of the Baja Ha Ha.
We plan to stay in Bahia Navidad for several more days, so we can get our laundry done, provision, explore the area, and just relax and enjoy ourselves a bit!
Our next destination will be Manzanillo, this will also be a short passage, then onward to Zihuatanejo or otherwise known as Z-town.

Nancy & I have been planning to go sailing for years. We are not ready to retire but decided to take this trip before we get to old. Sailing takes a lot of energy and commitment so we didnít want to wait until we canít physically handle the trip. [...]
