Merry Christmas from Merry Christmas from Ixtapa/Zihautanejo

Merry Christmas to all! We had a very quiet Christmas on the boat. We sure miss spending Christmas with our families. We were glad that we were able to get Internet long enough to call and wish our families a Merry Christmas. Many of the cruisers went into land to have a "traditional" Christmas dinner at a local restaurant, Sunset Bar & Grill. We decided that we would stay on board and grill some fresh shrimp on the barbie. Other than missing our families and all the good holiday food (especially Paula's famous chocolate peanut butter balls!) the day was quite enjoyable as we relaxed and escaped the day into reading our books. Peanut butter and chocolate are two things that we have had a hard time finding in the stores here....I thought these items were staples that all must have, apparently not! After spending the last two months in Mexico, we have come to the conclusion that Mexicans love the beach and water sports. Zihautanejo and the surrounding areas on the bay apparently is a popular spot for the Mexicans to celebrate Christmas. Some of the activities the tourists and locals were partaking for the holiday was parasailing, jet skiing, sailing Hobie cats, pangas pulling banana floatation with 6-8 people and kayaking. We were anchored right in the middle of all these activities, which is nice for a while but we eventually got tired of the all turbulence (washing machine effect) it had on our boat. We decided that we were ready to continue on our journey south and would pull up anchor after the holiday.
