SE winds 20/25 kts, showers
It's taken a while to get back to the blog, not that we have been busy but cruising and relaxing does take its toll. We spent two weeks at Horseshoe bay on Magnetic Island, not because we were held up by bad weather, because we needed sometime to wind down after the frantic preparation and extracting ourselves from the working thing. We have been able to get through the final boat jobs and now confident we can head to Darwin shipshape. The dingy, well that's another story and one I will save for later.
We have been out of Marinas now for a month and all the boat systems are functioning well. We were a bit worried about the wind generator for a while but now it is seeing 20Knts of wind every day, we are getting plenty of charge in the batteries.
We had a great break, bushwalking, afternoon naps, fishing and sundowners. James celebrated a birthday and Carol and I a wedding anniversary. Veedon Fleece joined us for a few days then we headed off for Cairns via Orpheus and Dunk Islands. Dunk was still closed following the cyclone earlier this year and was a sorry sight, the same for Bederra.
We arrived in Cairns on Thursday the 12th of May and booked into Marlin Marina just in time to meet Hailey of the plane on the Sunday. It is great to have Hailey with us for a few days but she is off back to Brisbane tomorrow, Thursday and we will all be sad I am sure. Cairns is a fantastic city and seems to be on the up with the tourist trade again.
Our plan is to leave Cairns on Friday or Saturday and head for Low Islets and then through to Lizard Island for a few days. From there we will hop our way to the tip of Cape York and stop at Horn Island in the Torres strait. Hopefully we will have some coverage along the way and I will be able to add some more detail to the blog. Have uploaded some more photos, check them out
