Just Hanging on the Hook in Tenacatita

Happy New Year! We have not updated this blog since we were in San Diego, 10/25/10. Our computer crashed just before we left Mazatlan the end of November. Eric replaced the hard drive the end of December but we continued to procrastinate updating the blog. Starting today, we will make a concerted effort to document our travels and then try to go back and enter what we can remember from the previous 2 months.
We left Bahia Chamela at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, 1/10/11, headed for Bahia Tenacatita. We had to motor the whole way as the wind was on our nose again. It was a smooth ride in hazy skies with winds ranging from 5.5 to 10.5 knots and our speed over ground was only 4.5 knots because of the wind and current being on our nose. We saw dolphins and had some whales go across our bow, which was exciting. We had to stop so we would not run into them but we got a little excited when a whale sounded right in front of our boat after coming from underneath it.
We arrived in Tenacatita and set the anchor at 4:00 pm. This is a beautiful bay and the photo above shows the sunset view from our cockpit last evening. We took our dinghy through the jungle adventure that winds through nearly two miles of lush mangroves, known as Estero Verde (see the photo gallery).
