We left Bahia Santiago on Monday, 1/24, headed for the Las Hadas Marina in Bahia Manzanillo. We headed straight for the fuel dock, which was a stressful experience. You have to med tie, which is setting a bow anchor and stern tie to the dock. Because of the surge caused by the swell entering the marina we bounced around quite a bit, which was no fun. We stern tied first and then tried to set the anchor, which did not work, and I had to keep fending the boat off the dock with one guy who worked there, while Eric filled the tank.
This is the beautiful resort and marina where the movie "10" starring Bo Derek and Dudley Moore was filmed in 1979. Since we needed to charge our batteries, we got a slip in the marina for 2 nights, which gave us the use of their beautiful pools.
We went to breakfast at the Paradise Restaurant overlooking the anchorage and then took the bus to downtown Manzanillo. It is one of the busiest shipping ports on the Pacific coast. We walked through the downtown commercial section and visited the Mercado 5 de Mayo, which is a big central market place that has everything from produce to meat and fish.
We moved from the marina to the anchorage on Wednesday afternoon and left there that evening for our passage to Zihuatanejo for Sail Fest.
