Canadians in Zihuatanejo
07 February 2011 | Zihuatanejo
We left Caleta de Campos at 6:55 am on 1/28 and arrived in Zihuataneo anchorage at 6:15 pm. We came here for the 5-day Sail Fest held every year to raise money for education for Zihuataneo’s poorest children. We took part in the sailboat race as crew on Di’s Dream and the sailboat parade on our boat. Tourists donated money to ride on a sailboat for the events and the boat owners donated money to participate in the events. We took 6 Canadians on Full:Shell for the boat parade from Zihuataneo to Isla Grande, sailed for a while, and then headed back to Zihuataneo. The photo above shows Captain Eric with Paula and Yvette Moreau from Vancouver, Bob and Joanne Beard and Vic and Diane Mecski from Ontario. It was a fun time for all.
Zihuataneo is a picturesque town that is great to explore. We walked all over.
