We made it to One 15 marina today Saturday 12th June and after a bit of a rig-ma-roll we were cleared in at 20h30 and then went into town for some jolly good drinks which all sailors do after a spell at sea. We were lead by the taximan decision of where he thought was a good place to go and were dropped off at the 'Clarke Quay' area which he pronounced 'kackkei' and he gave us his friends cell no to call when needing to return. Well beer after BEER we ended up calling him at 3h30am and while the rest are in the land of nod.... l am here to keep you updated.
After leaving Hong Kong in some wet weather we finally got to see the sun while the wind died, leaving us to motorsail. l made contact with another sister yacht that is also doing the same trip, as we lost contact when we both left Zhoushan, anyway l said we should set a way point down the South China seas to meet and 'try do the rest of the trip together.
Motoring was to be the rest of the trip apart from the occasional squall which gave us some wind and a chance to shower in fresh water. The diesel was going to very tight to reach Singapore, so when we came across a tanker awaiting instructions we asked if they could sell us about 200lt of diesel and then gave us 400lts. In return we gave the ships master a 8kg fresh dorado. Now, this was no easy task, lowering drums down this huge vessel onto our 'huge yacht' but we managed and then set off to meet our sister yacht with Div, Joe and Ruan on board. Delivery yachts don't have names, just numbers but I like to personalise each boat so have called this one 'Bamba' and our sister yacht 'Latitude'.
After meeting up with Yacht Latitude and exchanging some scary stories, theirs more hair raising than ours which I will post again, we sailed to the lsland of Jemaga where we had a fantastic 4hr rest stop, meeting a local who swapped us some juicy coconuts for a diving mask. We were going to stay longer but to time our arrival in Singapore in daylight, as it is one of the busiest straits and you don't want to be arguing with a ship at night, set off and an hour later Marlin-Mike (first mate) was fighting a black stripped marlin of 35kg which we set free as our pan was not that big!!
When opening my emails, l received a message from the office to say they don't have anybody in Singapore to do the repairs and we must go to Langkawi as there is a Sunsail base there. Before arriving here we had decided to change our route to the Seychelles via the Tunda Strait so that changes our route back to the original plans. We leave today 'sometime' and will be heading for Penang then onto Langkawi.
