Arriving at Fortaleza
This is some information from a brochure which was given to us when we arrived last Friday in Fortaleza, which is also known as the 'Blond Bride of the Sun. I've painstakingly typed the following to give you a flavour of our brief stopover.
'Two words define the capital of Ceará State: sun and party. Dragao do Mar's homeland, the land of Maracatu, is a metropolis that continues to become more beautiful than before and is the entry point of tourism in Ceara. It is essential to know her, because who breathes the fresh air from the warm beaches and green sea, never forgets her. For those who arrive in Fortaleza it is mandatory to get to know the Praia de Iraccma, Avenida Beria Mar, Muecuripe's fishermen rafts, Praia do Futuro, Nossa Senhora da Assuncao fortress, Centro Dragao do Mar, Fortaleza's down town Mercado Central with the varied handcrafts and Avenida Monsenhor Tabosa's clothes and shoes store. The gastronomy surprises the palate and the typical cuisine of the coast which is rich in seafood. So this is Fortaleza, with a population of approximately 3.5 million of beautiful and hospital people in a vibrate atmosphere. The city is a busy metropolis with a strange road system'.
We negotiated the 'strange road system' and managed to find the oil filters which we needed and purchased four ...they were very expensive. Whilst carrying out on board services we also found the steering system was VERY loose, so repaired same. I think we would have had steering failure on this next leg had I not spotted it.
