I enjoyed my brief stay in La Paz and got to visit my good friends on Magic and give them back the nice light weight nissan outboard. Joe finally hooked up with me on Facebook and he was heading straight for Puerto Vallarta because a crew person had to catch a plane back home to go to work...poor guy. So I had to get my act together and resupply, fuel, and the regular stuff to get underway. I sailed out of La Paz for the anchorage of Muertos which is on the southeast tip of Baja. The next morning I weighed anchor for a 3 day and 2 night crossing to Puerto Vallarta...a first for me. First day and night was butt kicking sailing and then the rest of the trip was motor-sailing. I passed by Isla Isabella at 0 dark 30 and kept going to P.V. How can a passage along the coast of Mexico be complete without the usual long line or fishing net snags. The first one in the morning was pretty straightforward, climbing down my swim ladder and pushing the line off my rudder. The second one I had to go deeper down to get a good push off around the rudder. The third one was a little more scarry. It wasnot a net, but a long line with fish leaders and hooks. I successfully pushed off with my foot but a fish hook snagged the rudder, so I grabbed the leader and pulled hard to dislodge it. As it finally popped loose, I saw the hook bounce off my hand....now realize the boat is still doing about 3 or 4 knots and if the hook lodged into my hand you can imagine the tug of war I would've had....Thank you Lord! Anyway, hanging out in La Cruz with Joe on Amerige and having an enjoyable stay. Joe and his Super Crew ScubaTony took me to dinner up the hill and I had the most wonderful Dorado filete dinner yet in Mexico. We were up the hill sitting in a veranda type setting overlooking Banderas Bay and the anchorage.......the pic is of a mid passage treat...Zamorra/queso ice cream in a cantaloupe. I was using my freezer to stock up with easy dinners for the passage. Hola G-Pat.
