My 7th year of cruising Mexico.

Gabriella's G-Pa
I sure hope the rest of this cruising season is not like the start. I left my sweet granddaughter Gabriella and her parents on a Friday morning with a full carload of goodies for the boat/season. I drove to Marina Del Rey to consult with the Kiwi-prop rep on my new to me Kiwi-prop. Then drove down to San Diego to finish my shopping for boat parts. I was taken aback by the lack of customer service in San Diego. The 2 Yanmar parts dealers were closed on Saturday and Sunday. I guess their business is so good they make their customers take off workdays to their business with them. So I left San Diego empty handed and headed for Tucson and Nogales to await my early morning crossing of the border. I had my last gringo breakfast at IHOP and crossed the border on the commercial side as opposed to the downtown crossing. Green lights at the first crossing and now for the second inspection station and getting my visa. I pull up to the light and it turns RED and a cute Aduana(customs) chica points to where she wants me to park....I'm thinking that I'm finally going to have to cough up some pesos for all the stuff I'm bringing into their dusty country. Now there were FOUR 4 CUTE Aduana chicas there and not one guy.....I'm starting to think 'hey, I don't care if I have to pay the customs'. Back to reality...one of the chicas asked me to open the back of my truck. I opened it and thought for sure they were going to gig me for the 4 brand new tires I bought for Horacios car. She pointed at the tires and I told her that I was driving to Mexico City, Chiapas, and then onto Guatemala and that I would need the tires for my car. She looked around at the rest of the loaded to roof stuff and then waived her hand in a jesture of get out of here....WHEW! After I closed up the back of the truck I walked over to the chicas and told them what a pleasant welcome it was to Mexico with four cute Chicas to do the inspection....and as they smiled and giggled I could tell they were pleased. On to Guaymas over some bumpy highways. The photo was taken of just some of the stuff brought down and lot of stuff taken off the boat to get ready for painting and new windows. I don't know how Joe from Amirage got in there.
