I have made the crossing over to the mainland of Mexico and the real Mexican town of Guaymas. This is where I will put my boat away for the hurricane season. It was nice to make landfall here and meet up with old friends. Horacio had my car at the marina waiting for me with an oil change and the car looking nice and clean. This place almost feels like my hometown in Mexico. I'm winding down a little earlier this year because I made a silly commitment to one of my commuters and I will have to honor it. Maybe next year I will extend my cruising through June and cruise further up the Sea Of Cortez.
Today, the 1st of May I celebrate a birthday of sorts. In fact, this birthday is more important to me than my true birthday. Cruising this year, I found myself telling others how blessed I was to be doing this travelling on a sailboat in my retirement. I also spread the tale of having spent the BEST 5 years of my life taking care of my precious granddaughter, Gabriella. I question quite often why God has blessed me with this wonderful life because the first half I, me, myself had screwed up so much. The bottom line is 'I am a blessed and grateful Alcoholic'. Today, I celebrate 31 years of living a life where I truly enjoy waking up every morning and want to face the world knowing I never have to suffer the crap I suffered as a practising alcoholic. Life is beautiful....even with BHO as President. I would like to write in this semi-public forum a big THANK YOU to my son and his wife for contributing to my wonderful life and letting me be a part of Gabriellas life. I love you all.
Enough of the mushy stuff....I will be anchored out in front of the haulout yard for the next 2 weeks while I start to pickle the boat(get it ready for storage). I haul the boat on the 12th of May and then off to Rancho Cordova. On the drive home we stop over in Lake Havasu City to spend the night with our wonderful hosts Chuck and Elaine from Boomerang fame. We will fill them with cruising tales from this last season. Next year....more of the same, but I will really try to jazz it up a bit so it won't be so boring.
