Thanksgiving Weekend

24 November 2012 | Palm Shores, FL mm910
sunny, 70
We have been pretty busy since I last wrote. We left Daytona on Tuesday morning after waiting perhaps 2 hrs for the water to go down enough for us to get under the bridge. It was just a couple of hours to New Smyrna, where we left the boat over Thanksgiving.

Friends from Massachusetts have a winter home here in FLorida, so we had planned weeks ago to have Thanksgiving together. After all our delays (hurricane, bridges, etc) we hoped we could get to New Smyrna on time for Thanksgiving, and "thankfully" we did. Mary and Bob drove 2 hours from The Villages to pick us up on Wednesday, and took us to their house for a few days over the holiday. We had a wonderful visit, and a delicious traditional Thanksgiving dinner. Mary and I baked pies on Wednesday, we all ate too much on Thursday, and then Friday they returned us to our boat.

We have boat friends who were also in New Smyrna. They lent us their car Friday afternoon so we could get some shopping done...Thats right...on Black Friday. It really wasn't bad. Friday night the city had it's Christmas lighting, so we all went downtown for the festivities and then out for pizza.

The marina encourages all the boats there to light up for the holidays. As you can see, many of them have.

This next pic is of Salty Dog, our friends Jeff and Cindy's boat.

We left New Smyrna this morning, and ended up here in Palm Shores, about a 60 mile day. The weather was beautiful today...Florida weather!
