It's Official

It's a sad but good thing, we no longer own GHOST. She is now owned by an architect in Sydney who has plans of sailing the South Pacific once again.

Reality bites!!

It's been a while since we updated the blog. Apologies for that but we've been busy fighting off the onslaught of reality, not really wanting to admit it's over! After arriving it was the welcome party in Sydney, followed by a hectic week of moving ALL our personal stuff off GHOST. On a side note, it [...]

GHOST for sale!

Well it's sad news but GHOST is now officially up for sale!

28 November 2010 | Sydney Harbour, Australia

Welcome to Sydney GHOST

Well it was a brilliantly sunny day as we set off from Pittwater in GHOST, entering the Sydney heads about lunchtime. It was a pretty emotional sail through this iconic harbour which Brad has envisaged sailing into as long as he's dreamt of sailing home to Australia. Soon we were pulling up to the [...]

The Slaying of the Sea Giant

28 November 2009 | In the middle of the big blue sea
Caroline
Our quest for the great Sea Giant was postponed for the day. Instead, nearing the close of another beautifully blue afternoon, the minds of the crew were occupied with hints of delicious aromas wafting from the galley and an imminent glass of sangria. Then the fishing line, which had been cast almost disdainfully from the stern by an unoccupied member of the crew, began to twitch and tremble. Stefano, with panther-like reactions, left the washing he was hanging and leapt into action, declaring war with the Monster. The battle raged: he pulled; the Beast pulled back. Shimmering blue and gold flashed out across the water as the Sea Giant thrashed, twisted and turned to the bitter end. But Stefano, after a war of physical and mental stamina, brought the Monster to his mercy. In the meantime, anxious crew on deck had brought forth tools and blades, and the exhausted Beast was hauled on deck to the prepared area. The Monster was hurriedly sedated and, taking a cleaver, and with a flash of the blade in the sun, Brad brought the weapon down upon the dazed fish. We had slayed the Great Sea Giant.

Well....sort of. We caught a Mahi Mahi, measuring in at a whopping metre long. Brad did an excellent job of filleting the thing, and said fillets are currently sitting in the fridge ready for a bbq later today. Good times.

PS, thanks to all that are leaving comments, and moreover as of yesterday sending emails. Loving the contact with those not on a boat and the words of support!! B
