It's Official

It's a sad but good thing, we no longer own GHOST. She is now owned by an architect in Sydney who has plans of sailing the South Pacific once again.

Reality bites!!

It's been a while since we updated the blog. Apologies for that but we've been busy fighting off the onslaught of reality, not really wanting to admit it's over! After arriving it was the welcome party in Sydney, followed by a hectic week of moving ALL our personal stuff off GHOST. On a side note, it [...]

GHOST for sale!

Well it's sad news but GHOST is now officially up for sale!

Welcome to Sydney GHOST

Well it was a brilliantly sunny day as we set off from Pittwater in GHOST, entering the Sydney heads about lunchtime. It was a pretty emotional sail through this iconic harbour which Brad has envisaged sailing into as long as he's dreamt of sailing home to Australia. Soon we were pulling up to the [...]

A tough few days...

It's been a tough few days here trying to get various jobs done on the boat, mostly because the work ethic is definitely different here and if a contractor says he'll be there at 3pm it might be 3, 4 or 5 or even the next day - very frustrating!

We also had problems where one of the workmen managed to undo too many bolts on the tang which holds the forestay up (and hence the mast).... was a bit nerve-wracking for a while but all fixed now.

Meanwhile we've slaving away for the last few days on various jobs including a full GRP & stainless polish (nobody said cruising was easy!). Next problem is though - how full is the lazarette!!! Anyway, GHOST is now looking good and is hopefully in good shape for the Pacific.

We did find time to celebrate Chris's 31st birthday with a yummy barbecue at Cloggy's - though have to admit we were all pretty knackered! Today we finish off the final few jobs and check out of Antigua ready for an early departure to Bonaire tomorrow.

We should be there sometime on Tuesday and are getting really excited about it from reading all the guides. The whole island seems to be set up for diving with all the dive sites easily identified by markers on the beach so you just get into it and they even have drive through tank refils and dockside tank refils - diving heaven!
