Mallorca by jeep!

Since we arrived on Friday evening and were keen to investigate the chandleries of Palma on Monday we decided to spend a whole day on land (leaving the boat anchored in Santa Ponsa) and explore Mallorca by car. In the car rental shop we were seduced by Jimmi the Suzuki Jeep so off we went.
The guidebooks had highlighted the NW coastal road as a particularly nice drive. This coast is rocky and steep with spectacular views and includes twisty mountain roads which Jimmy made short work of. We remembered foundly our 50cc mopeds from Cascais but we don't think they'd have lasted the trip!
Deia was a particularly beautiful village and we had some delicious tapas for lunch before continuing on. Annoyingly the military had blocked off the mountain road we wanted to take on the way back so we drove back through Palma for a little explore.
So back for another night anchored near Santa Ponsa in a beautiful spot out in the bay, but the town is populated by rather less beautiful British tourists sporting football shirts and white trainers... the island definitely appeals to two different categories of tourists!
Unfortunately we weren't very enamoured by our tour of Palma and then weren't looking forwards to coming here on Monday. We did however need to visit the chandlery and the sail loft for a replacement sail batten (why oh why do these constantly fall out and disappear into thin air???) so we didn't have much choice, as there are few places in the med better equipped than Palma.
