It's Official

It's a sad but good thing, we no longer own GHOST. She is now owned by an architect in Sydney who has plans of sailing the South Pacific once again.

Reality bites!!

It's been a while since we updated the blog. Apologies for that but we've been busy fighting off the onslaught of reality, not really wanting to admit it's over! After arriving it was the welcome party in Sydney, followed by a hectic week of moving ALL our personal stuff off GHOST. On a side note, it [...]

GHOST for sale!

Well it's sad news but GHOST is now officially up for sale!

Welcome to Sydney GHOST

Well it was a brilliantly sunny day as we set off from Pittwater in GHOST, entering the Sydney heads about lunchtime. It was a pretty emotional sail through this iconic harbour which Brad has envisaged sailing into as long as he's dreamt of sailing home to Australia. Soon we were pulling up to the [...]

Palma sucks!

16 June 2008 | Palma, Mallorca
Kat
This morning we motored for a couple of hours around from Santa Ponsa to Palma. Palma is a large bay with 8 different marinas of varying sizes - most of which seem to be very open to swell! After calling the two largest marinas on the VHF and being told, by very unhelpful staff, that they were full (despite a large number of spaces on pontoons) we finally found a berth on the outside wall of Marina Port de Mallorca.

This marina is known for it's extremely high concrete pontoons - apparently smaller craft can get stuck underneath them!!! Lucky GHOST is pretty high, and our paraselle reaches fine.

Anyway as we now know the berth is very exposed to swell and there is only one line to pick up on the bow so you move around a lot. It's going to be a noisy and uncomfortable night.

Generally, we think Palma stinks.

We have to admit however that the chandlery was pretty good and we now have mozzy nets for our cabin, a storage bag on deck (finally somewhere to put bottles of water!) and Brad is working on being able to lock the hatch from the inside - we've heard tales about boats in the Balerics being robbed while people are asleep inside!

Jobs almost done so we're off to expore the old town by bike for a bit before supper. Don't fancy our evening swim in this yucky marina water!
