It's Official

It's a sad but good thing, we no longer own GHOST. She is now owned by an architect in Sydney who has plans of sailing the South Pacific once again.

Reality bites!!

It's been a while since we updated the blog. Apologies for that but we've been busy fighting off the onslaught of reality, not really wanting to admit it's over! After arriving it was the welcome party in Sydney, followed by a hectic week of moving ALL our personal stuff off GHOST. On a side note, it [...]

GHOST for sale!

Well it's sad news but GHOST is now officially up for sale!

Welcome to Sydney GHOST

Well it was a brilliantly sunny day as we set off from Pittwater in GHOST, entering the Sydney heads about lunchtime. It was a pretty emotional sail through this iconic harbour which Brad has envisaged sailing into as long as he's dreamt of sailing home to Australia. Soon we were pulling up to the [...]

Sunny Sardinia

23 June 2008
Kat
So we arrived in Sardinia late afternoon yesterday and headed to Carloforte on Isle di Pietro, this is off the SW coast of Sardinia. The wind really picked up as it funnelled between the island and the mainland so we were pleased with our improved efficiency of stern-to mooring, put down the paraselle and headed off in search of internet and dinner.

Our chosen spot for food was a "spaghetteria" on the waterfront where we were tempted by Spaghetti Arselle (? our Italian waiter was unable to translate) but were eventually served 2 of the largest pizza's we have ever seen. We then retired for an early night.

This morning we motored & sailed around the coast aiming for Cagliari harbour but were drawn in by a particularly attractive anchorage called Porto Malfatano and the need for a swim. Here there are a few people on a nearby beach, a few anchored fishing boats and one other yacht. It's completely peaceful and relaxing, and after a decent swim we're now relaxing at last, Brad snoring next to me rather noisily!

J Vo texted us today to say he and Heath will be joining us in Sicily for the trip along the South coast and then to Malta, and also after 2 weeks of trying we finally managed to unblock the aft heads, so now we feel like we've turned a corner in terms of how we've rushed across from Portugal and some of the frustrations we've had on route. The only cloud on the horizon being the rather long passage we'll have from Malta to Greece, but we'll either decide to do it as a 3-4 day passage or head back to Sicily and then across to Greece by a shorter route.
