It's Official

It's a sad but good thing, we no longer own GHOST. She is now owned by an architect in Sydney who has plans of sailing the South Pacific once again.

Reality bites!!

It's been a while since we updated the blog. Apologies for that but we've been busy fighting off the onslaught of reality, not really wanting to admit it's over! After arriving it was the welcome party in Sydney, followed by a hectic week of moving ALL our personal stuff off GHOST. On a side note, it [...]

GHOST for sale!

Well it's sad news but GHOST is now officially up for sale!

Welcome to Sydney GHOST

Well it was a brilliantly sunny day as we set off from Pittwater in GHOST, entering the Sydney heads about lunchtime. It was a pretty emotional sail through this iconic harbour which Brad has envisaged sailing into as long as he's dreamt of sailing home to Australia. Soon we were pulling up to the [...]

We love Turkey!

08 August 2008 | Kalaboshi, Turkey
Brad
Well it is safe to say we really like turkey. After leaving Marti Marina (we stayed an extra day lazing by the pool) and vowing to return shortly, we have spent the last couple days floating around the coast drifting from one sleepy cove to the next. First night out of Marti was on the back of a little island that is frequented by many day trip boats, but once they left there were only 3 of us left and peace descended. We climbed the wee island (occupied by only half a dozen goats and some rabbits) and where rewarded with a great view (photos shortly, check the gallery).

Then it was on to Datca, a small town where we anchored in the bay and scooted into town to get stuck in to a few too many Mojtios and Efes. Tonight we are anchored in a small bay call Kaliboshi and this is a quite little day retreat for the Turks. Small jetty, a couple of restaurants and the main road through town is a dirt track on the foreshore. There is a little swell that we hope will die down tonight but anchor is dug in well.

Tomorrow the plan is to make a fairly early start and head to the Greek island of Kos to Drop Celina off for here ferry back to Rhodes on Sunday.

Kat and I are then planning on spending some more time on the Turkish coast drifting back towards Marmaris. Health is heading out for a visit early in Sept as is Dave, so looking forward to that.

The big news is that considering how much we like Turkey we are coming back next year. We are planning on hauling Ghost out of the water around about the 12th of September and storing her ashore at the Yacht Marina near Marmaris over winter so we can head back to Oz to spend some time with my Mum. Plans for next year are a little sketchy and open ended at the moment, but we plan to be back in Oz for a bit to see family, then depending on how things are we'll pick up where we left off something next year.
