It's Official

It's a sad but good thing, we no longer own GHOST. She is now owned by an architect in Sydney who has plans of sailing the South Pacific once again.

Reality bites!!

It's been a while since we updated the blog. Apologies for that but we've been busy fighting off the onslaught of reality, not really wanting to admit it's over! After arriving it was the welcome party in Sydney, followed by a hectic week of moving ALL our personal stuff off GHOST. On a side note, it [...]

GHOST for sale!

Well it's sad news but GHOST is now officially up for sale!

28 November 2010 | Sydney Harbour, Australia

Welcome to Sydney GHOST

Well it was a brilliantly sunny day as we set off from Pittwater in GHOST, entering the Sydney heads about lunchtime. It was a pretty emotional sail through this iconic harbour which Brad has envisaged sailing into as long as he's dreamt of sailing home to Australia. Soon we were pulling up to the [...]

Still chillin' in Turkey

24 August 2008
Brad
Been radio silent for a while and finally Mum asked "What have we been up too?".....bottom line, not much.

Have been floating around some of the more remote bays in this part of Turkey (see map) and anchoring with a line ashore most nights. We now have a pretty slick 2-person technique! Have had limited internet access and not much to tell either.

Every day has been something like; get up have breaky, motor 5 miles to the next bay to be anchored by about 11am at which time we start reading (yep I do read, albeit slowly) interspersed with the occasional swim when one gets too hot and maybe a small walk up a hill or
an exploratory snorkeling expedition once the sun is lower on the horizon. Followed of course, by beers!

It is about this time the eternal war between man and wasp starts. I wallop a few, a few more come then the sun sets and they bugger off like the
cowards they are!! We have since found out that killing them is a bad idea as they release pheremones which make more wasps turn up!!! Then we eat dinner, drink some more to the backdrop noise of crickets, a little music and then perhaps we watch a movie or TV show on the laptop before calling it a night. One must get ones rest in order to do it all over again tomorrow!!

Ran out of beer the other day but as luck would have it on that very day we met a great couple from Leeds (Graham & Helen). An invitation was extended for drinks on their lovely 47 foot Oyster. Before you know it, I was drinking beer!! Beer turned into dinner with wine and port, and later unfortunately, a hangover!

What else? We had a great 20 mile run with the Gennekar up today. Had a small altercation with some Germans, the most arrogant and unseaman like people on the planet - sods wouldn't give way. But we were well impressed with the polite and seaman like way the brits on the Sunsail boats got out of our way as we tore into the end of the bay through a novice sunsail flotilla at 7kns in 11kns of wind with the kite up.

Not much else to report though, we have some guests arriving in a week then Ghost comes out of the water on the 12th. Enjoying the last month.....
