It's Official

It's a sad but good thing, we no longer own GHOST. She is now owned by an architect in Sydney who has plans of sailing the South Pacific once again.

Reality bites!!

It's been a while since we updated the blog. Apologies for that but we've been busy fighting off the onslaught of reality, not really wanting to admit it's over! After arriving it was the welcome party in Sydney, followed by a hectic week of moving ALL our personal stuff off GHOST. On a side note, it [...]

GHOST for sale!

Well it's sad news but GHOST is now officially up for sale!

28 November 2010 | Sydney Harbour, Australia

Welcome to Sydney GHOST

Well it was a brilliantly sunny day as we set off from Pittwater in GHOST, entering the Sydney heads about lunchtime. It was a pretty emotional sail through this iconic harbour which Brad has envisaged sailing into as long as he's dreamt of sailing home to Australia. Soon we were pulling up to the [...]

Cephalonia is nice

17 June 2009 | Ay Eufimia & Fiskardho
Kat
We anchored off a little town on the East of Cephalonia called Ay Eufimia, and soon the bay was filled with anchored boats (but thankfully none too close to us this time!). Time for a quick walk around the town and then a barbie on the back. The town is quite pleasant though noisy at night as the charter boats get down and party -of course the live aboards go to bed!

This morning we set off early with the fold up bikes in the dingy to reach the pontoon for an 8km ride along the coast to the Melissani Caves - old limestone caves where the roof has fallen in. Much as we love the old Jetty Express bikes they are certainly hard work for anything with any gradient or over a couple of miles, but it meant we could explore before the hordes of tourist buses!

The caves were really nice and cool after a hot ride there and very beautiful where the sunlight shines through the seawater fed through from the east coast of the island.

The ride back to the boat seemed quicker and it was wonderful to cool off again with a quick swim, Cephalonia has the most beautiful water! We then sailed north to Fiskhardo, as it was only a short 10nm trip we decided it was worth tacking up the channel, and Brad was chuffed that we overtook various boats on the way that he had decided we were racing against - it always helps when they don't know they are racing!

Fiskardho is a lovely town, the only one on the island to remain standing after a big earthquake in 1953 and its Venetian roots show in the architecture. We have anchored with a line ashore to the north of the town but the harbour is quickly filling up and there will no doubt be some interesting charter boat shenanigans to watch later on!
