Halfway and Birthdays!

05 December 2008 | South Fiji Basin
Nic
It must be the week for mentioning mothers as Neil has asked me to say big Happy Birthday to his mum, so from him and from all of us on board HAPPY BIRTHDAY NEILS MUM! We continue to be kept busy on board as the wind changes in direction and strength on what seems an hourly basis. Last night it picked up to a Force 7 and we had to put 2 reefs in the main and 1 in the mizzen again, then as the wind backed slowly behind us we were able to get all the sail up gain. This morning it has veered back to the South and we are trucking along again 6.5 knots with all sails fully up. Phil is driving the bus at the moment, and apart from a couple of moments which have earned him the nickname "Terry" (after a character in Viz!!!!!!) he is doing extremely well, in fact it's a shame he wasn't with us longer as I he definitely seems to have the knack. We have also passed the halfway mark this morning, so its all down hill from here - we managed the first half in just less than 4 days so hope to continue that pace for the 2nd half? Its time for Terry to have a break from steering so cheery bye until tomorrow!
