Waiting For Weather in Golfito

02 October 2007 | Golfito, Costa Rica
Andrew
Unfortunately the weather hasn't cooperated with us the past few days, so we continue to hang out in Golfito and wait for Mother Nature to throw us a bone. We've had squally and rainy conditions with poor wind angles, so we've spent the majority of the time doing projects on the boat, shooting the breeze with the other cruisers, and surfing the internet. Land and Sea Cruisers Club provides wireless internet service, so we are able to access high speed data from the boat, which is a real treat. I've greatly enjoyed emailing friends and family, catching up on college football via espn.com, and phoning home via Skype phone, which is the next greatest thing after the bilge burger. Skype phone provides international calls through the internet with exceptionally clarity, and at an excellent price. Calling home cost me .02 cents per minute, which is my kind of deal. It was great to catch up with the family and hear about what they were doing. Best of all was hearing my niece Shelby blabbering in the background and making funny noises as she learns to talk.

We continue to watch the weather forecasts and hope for the best. I have enjoyed learning how to read the various weather charts and will apply for Bill Kelly's job when I return. I think being a weatherman would be nothing short of a hoot.
