Capts. Dave and Desiree
We are now in Turkish waters. It is hard to believe that our days in Greece are now behind us, and the season has come to an end. We have arrived to Marmaris Yacht Marina where the boat will be wintered. We will be dockside the next several days starting to get necessary maintenance issues addressed, and then the boat, like last year in France, will be placed on the hard.
Marmaris Yacht Marina is a wonderful facility. We have met many cruisers like ourselves new to Turkey, but we have also encountered seasoned cruisers who have spent several winters there and are a wealth of information and advice. They put sailing aside for the winter, but, of course, continue to take care of one's constant boat needs. Yet they enjoy the camaraderie of one another, enjoying activities and side trips, and always ready to provide a helping hand and loan a tool whenever needed.
We leave shortly from Istanbul to Lyon, France. We will make our way to Paris, and hopefully catch a day at EuroDisney before we take our flight home from DeGaulle airport. We want to say thanks to all of you who took the time to read our website, and we will try and put occassional logs about life at home. Somehow we suspect that they will not be as entertaining as the ones at sea. Please join us next year, and follow along our adventures when we return to the Gone Native next July.
