Boobies!!!

30 March 2009 | Puerto Vallarta
Saying goodbye to our friends in La Paz & the Sea of Cortez was difficult, as we thoroughly enjoyed our time in these waters, but getting South is a must with hurricane season approaching. So we set off, stopping in Muertos & Frailes before our crossing to the mainland.

Visiting our friends in Frailes & snorkeling the reef one more time was a must before our 50 hour jaunt across the Sea. We had pretty much little to no wind most of the way, but we were frequently visited by many turtles & dolphins to entertain us. We arrived at Isla Isabella and stayed a couple of days at this frigate & blue footed boobie sanctuary. It was so awesome! The bird acrobatics & aeronautical displays were incredible, but then so was the snorkeling in crystal clear waters and the whales that circled endlessly, blowing up steam, showing us some fins just outside the anchorage 500 ft away! It was a most spectacular experience. The water so clear & clean, it was hard to pull anchor and continue, but we did, seeing the Mexico mainland for the first time with sunrise. There was a sweet smell of land approaching, almost like fresh organic garden soil mixed with flowers and breakfast cooked over an open fire.We stopped at Chacala Bay for an overnight before carrying on to Puerto Vallarta.Tropical trees arose from the horizon covering the hills and beaches.

We're currently anchored off Punta de Mita, resupplying and enjoying the surf in the bay. But, again we're on our way South for Manzanillo & Zihuatanejo in the next couple of weeks. We'll post again when we can. Take care all, we miss you!
