Killing Time in the Rain
14 June 2008 | Nasasobu Harbor, Fiji
Barbara
We have been in Nasaobu harbor for one week and we have had many adventures. Mike is visiting us from the US and has shared in some of the action including: going on a wild pig hunt, snorkeling the coral pass with a the "man in the grey suit" (a friendly shark), walking the beaches and mangroves to visit our friend, Edward, drinking Kava with the Smith and Pickering families, reading and relaxing to the sound of the crowing chickens and the sent of burning copra. The remembered moments of Fijian life seem to be connected with the senses. The sights and sounds and smells of this place combine to make a lasting impression on us. Here is a picture of the local cruising community playing a 5 hour round of dominoes.
