GOSI's Fiji
23 June 2008 | Albeert Cove, Rambi Island, Fiji
Barbara
We have moved on after dropping Mike, our temporary crew off in Tavanui to catch the Ferry to Suva. Returning to Viani Bay, the Gosi crew enjoyed 2 days of diving the reefs of the Somosomo Straits with the local dive camp. The reefs were word class - the descriptions found in the dive literature all true. We have now taken up some independent travel venturing to Kioa Island and Rambi Island. Albert Cove on Rambi is the picture perfect Fijian Island, palm trees, white sand, blue water, and a few local people to trade with. We have flour and crackers and they have fruit- a fair exchange. Life on this side of the island is hand to mouth. Fishing and cooking are the activities of the day. Cruising yachts are infrequent here. Besides giving the locals something interesting to look at, we are a source of needed supplies. We always ask permission to anchor in their harbor when we come to isolated places like this and we are always made welcome. Will post pictures of this paradise when internet access in available in a few weeks. Cheers GOSI
