Holyhead

Nice motor sail, light westerlies at first. I drifted south of the rhumb line so that when the breeze backed to the south as promised I was able to point Holyhead full and bye. Had to keep the engine ticking over to keep the speed up and got to the end of the massive breakwater at Holyhead by 2000hrs.
Clear blue skies all the way, could see the South Stack from 22 miles out but, strangely, not the Isle of Man which was only 12 miles to the north at one point. The cloud over the mountain was always visible however.
12 miles out from Anglesey We disturbed a sleeping whale which sounded off the stbd bow with much splashing and a whiff of very bad breath.
Tucked up in Holyhead Marina (£18 a night....ouch), hot shower, Spaghetti Bolognese and turn in for a well earned kip. The photo shows GD in a catamaran sandwich between two Prouts.
