The inclement weather stretched from Finisterre to Scotland so I was stuck. Boredom forced me to get on with all those "I'll just do that later" jobs including fixing the long wave aerial so that I could get BBC World Serviced on the HF rx. doing so just in time to hear that the Lions had beaten the Kiwis in the second test in Wellington. Deep joy!
The rain stopped eventually (I think I saw Noah carrying some planks....) so an exploration of the locality was in order. Nothing too energetic of course but I did find this very pretty ecclesiastical building (a monastery I think) in the nearby village of Talmont Saint-Hilaire. There is always something to please the eye if you look around...
I [...]am ex Royal Navy weapons engineer, a semi-retired military marine engineering consultant, an RYA Yachtmaster (30 years +!) a serial inventor and a rebreather scuba diver, as well as being the co-inventor of SuperSpout, a spill prevention fuel-can spout (Dragons Den etc) which is much loved in the sailing community for filling outboards and stuff.
Greydove is a mk3/4 Heavenly Twins highly modified with straight stems and a high aspect ratio fully battened modern catamaran rig with an 11 metre mast. She goes! (for an old girl anyway). Sailing around the Forth, West Coast and Western Isles of Scotland with a scuba diving skipper we have [...]
visited many remote and beautiful places. After sailing in the Irish Sea for a while, we went south to explore the West coast of France. Grey Dove spent 8 years in Rochefort exploring the bay of Biscay, the Morbihan, the Gironde and Canal de Midi to the Med. before returning to the Firth Of Forth for a well earned refit. Currently exploring the historic ports around the East of Scotland and having a great time doing it.
