Following 2 1/2 years of major surgery and refit, both for Grey Dove and myself , she finally has kissed the water again. A red letter day and a great relief.
New Beta 3 20hp, new windows, refurbed cushions, new vinyl linings, new carpets, new hydraulic steering, overhauled Hydraulic Drive, new throttle lever and cable, renewed and improved electrics, new galley overheads and lights, Kiwi grip decks, reshaped and improved rudders, new wind gear, halyards washed or replaced, calorifier (for the first time!), saloon table improved, mast post moved, all lockers painted, new cutless bearings, props polished and sails overhauled and autopilot linked to masthead wind.. Thats her.....
As for me; new knees, new hips, innards refurbished following bowel cancer and now recovered (mostly) from 2 hospital induced infections.
Now is the time to start again....
with many thanks to Jim Day, Sam Todd, Chris Mitchel, Mike Batho,Jim Birley, the Hendersons (father and son) and many others who helped with both my and the boats recovery, including Fife Ukulele Orchestra for keeping my spirits up.
