A Tick in the Bucket List

26 September 2023 | Mesalongi
David Holdsworth | Thunderstorms and sun
Finally made it up the Gulf of Corinth to Galaxidi so we could visit Delphi on the third attempt. Sadly in a tippy boat not Grey Dove but, hey ho, it has been fun.
Being Royal Navy Artificers and therefore subjects of Artemis, this trip is akin to a haj. As always the Oracle was not at home, she did not even leave a message!
Great museum and the archaelogical site is steep and challenging in 38°C but worth it. Galaxidi, the best local port, is charming with an excellent and interesting maritime museum.
Getting back out of the Gulf was at times a struggle with cyclonic winds and thunderstorms requiring a full reef at times. We had to shelter for a day in Trizonia and motor sail through variable winds to pass the Patra bridge and go up the 2 mile canal to Mesalonghi and a well deserved "big eats" ashore.

On a Tippy Boat again

David Holdsworth | Hot, sunny, calm.
Its that time of year again. Dodging around the Ionion again, having left Grey Dove on her pontoon at home.
This is becoming monster cat central, These two were in Kalamos, filling up the harbour....
