Havre de Grace
13 July 2015
A long day up the bay to the northern tip. We are on the Susquehanna River at Havre de Grace for at least this evening. We just got in about 5:00 pm after motoring our way here.
Havre de Grace was considered for the nations capital back in 1789 along with Washington. The House of Representatives vote ended in a tie with the Speaker of the House casting the deciding vote for Washington.
There is a lovely familiar sound of the railroad as the Amtrak train runs across the swing bridge that has a clearance of 52 feet. We won't be going under that until they open it up with our 62 feet to clear.
There is another familiar site but not as lovely. For those of you that know Regent Point, there is a sunken sailboat across the way where we dock our boat that was part of Ernesto's damage. Pulling toward the mooring field at Tidewater Marina we saw yet another sunken sailboat. Would be interesting to hear that story.
Nice gentle breezes and the sounds of the water and laughter coming from the fishing pier. Nice end to the day.
