Another Wet Day
09 November 2015
Well with it still in the 70's and raining, we are in the cockpit enjoying our first morning coffee contemplating our next move.
We want to get to Palm Coast by Wednesday and we would like to spend a day or two in St. Augustine. Such decisions!
Yesterday the winds continued to kick us about up until "kick off" for the Eagles so Greg had to listen to them rather that watch them in the captains lounge at the marina. While the mooring balls are close to the marina, you don't allow the captain of your ship to abandon ship putting himself in danger in a small dink (dinghy) battling high winds and choppy water. (What was I thinking?) All kidding aside, I think from what I have heard from him this morning the game was a nail biter and it was probably best no one else saw him when Dallas came back to tie the game.
Yesterday was the second day on our trip that was like that. It was similar to the two days we spent at Wrightsville Beach and we were experiencing the high tides and rains. On those days, you pull out your book, you do a few chores, you needlepoint (yes Betty and Bev I finally pulled it out of the closet), you draw or find some way to take your mind off of the fact that you are in for the day.
Interesting that Fernandina Beach Harbor sports not one.....but two competitive paper mills. One is part of the Rock Tenn group, the other we are not sure but it is possibly Rayonier. They sit one opposite ends of the water front here at the harbor.
Greg is busy emptying the dinghy of the water from yesterday so I must stop for now and get ready to get under way.
On to St. Augustine's.
