Okay....it is only after all the excitement and a drink that I can bring myself to finish the story.
It has been a rough day for some. The two gentlemen that we saw towing the sailboat back somehow got the sailboat anchored. However in the process of anchoring the sailboat, the boston whaler capsized and the two men were separated. One was in the water near the sailboat and the other was atop (actually on the bottom) the capsized boston whaler.
They were screaming for help.....Greg got on the radio and called the coast guard again to report this incident. When they came back to us Greg was already pulling up the anchor to go help the guy in the water.
The coast guard came back to the radio and said they would be ten minutes and I replied I hoped they would find these guys in ten minutes. The chop and the current are not to be dealt with lightly. Neither of these gentlemen had on life preservers.
As we are busy trying to pull up the anchor in 30 knot winds, in come the troops. I had to direct them to the scene and still help maintain the helm as Greg is now vulnerable at the anchor. Thank goodness the guy afloat on the Boston Whaler was smart enough to jump off and latch ahold of a large mega sailboat near us. The other gentleman we thought was still in the water somehow managed to get himself in the 20 ft sailboat.
All are safe ....... but what a day!
