Brown Comes Thru

Just another point for UPS and their uncanny ability to find the needle in the haystack.
Please note that the UPS in Nassau is more like a contractor and does not work for OUR beloved UPS in the states. BUT......with the help of the states UPS we were able to find the package.....find the elusive invoice everyone was saying they did not have and get the package through customs and on a plane to George Town.
We have still not laid our eyes on it, but we watched every plane that flew overhead last night thinking "it has got to be on that plane". It was late in the evening so our freight broker said he would see us first thing this morning. He most certainly will!
I got a big tickle out of my brother Mark yesterday. In the midst of trying to see why folks were not getting the invoice, we sent the invoice to him at work and home. Funny he had no problem getting the invoice, but all he could say after seeing it was WOW! The freight cost was more than the part. That is what is know as international shipping.
So while we had folks on the first part of our journey, we now understand why you want folks visiting sporadically........so they can bring spare parts and save you the $$ on freight. Lol!!!!!
So.......the even bigger story is....we get to move out of George Town and on to points north. So for me while I am sad to start heading north, I know it is time and we will hit some spots maybe that we missed in the Exumas.
George Town is a great little town bustling with children playing, shops here and there, restaurants.....their own Fish Fry, and plenty of sights to see. The regatta events and the constant chatter about it on the cruisers net is just not my thing. The picture today is of the map of George Town that we got when we were on the scooter. We went as far south as the road would go and as far north as Emeral Bay and Sandals resort. Quite a lot of scenery that you don't see from the water.
We have made some lovely friends while here and look forward to hopefully seeing them up north before we take the left to the US. Wayne and Betty Romberg who own a Caliber 47 from New Jersey have been a huge help to the two of us. They are leaving this morning for Long Island. If we had gotten the part in earlier, we may have made that trip with them but this is for the best. We will miss them for certain. I have learned a new game Rumi Kub (sp) and with spending time on their boat I have "eyed" a few upgrades for Ti Amo before her next venture.
The hour for the cruisers net is fast approaching so I will sign off for now and look forward to preparing for a departure.
