Rock Sound
06 March 2016
We are here and all is well. Thanks to those who emailed or asked about Fletcher. He is much better today, eating and drinking and being his normal "moose" self. Thanks again to Dani and Bryan and their tireless efforts to make him comfortable and get him back on his feet.
Yesterday upon arrival in Rock Sound, Greg and I went into town to the supermarket to see about getting some bread and milk. We heard they had a great store here and we were not disappointed. Not only was it well stocked (similar to Nassau), they had a person drive us back to where we left the dinghy. I am telling you.....we have hit the jackpot in Long Island, Cat Island and Eleuthra when it comes to friendly folks.
Greg and I decided to celebrate Valentine's Day last night at the Wild Orchid Restaurant. We had the entire place to ourselves for most of the evening, but we did not mind as it was like our own little paradise overlooking the harbor.
The Wild Orchid hosts the Princess Line Cruise ships today for an afternoon getaway where they will demonstrate how to make conch salad, a little junkanoo demonstration and they will have a buffet lunch and drinks.
Today we hope to go in and explore more of the town as folks are saying this may be the next Staniel Cay or George Town. I think just their attitude to visitors alone will take them far.
Rock Harbour Sound provides good protection for the weather we are anticipating with winds gusting into the 30's. Don't know yet how long we will be here. This weather is to continue through Wednesday but we really would like to continue our track north to the Abacos. Oh well, we will wait for Chris Parker's email this evening before making that decision.
