Spanish Wells
13 March 2016
Thanks to our Blue Charts and Navionics, we are safely tucked right outside the harbour entrance to Spanish Wells. The winds out of the ESE at maybe 5 - 6 knots. Okay.....I have never seen the wind this calm in the entire time we have been here in the Bahamas....but I am thankful as this anchorage could be less comfortable with higher winds.
A huge thanks to Robin and Deidre who have been our eyes on the ground here. This was home for Deidre and she has been a wealth of information. She knows who to call.....where to go.....and who to ask if you don't know. Thanks a million to the two of them for information on piloting, anchorages, eateries and hair cutteries. Deidre's mom has offered to take us around and show us the sites today after church. I look forward to meeting her.
So it looks like we will stay here until Tuesday morning at which time we will be meeting "Bandit" (Mr. Jock) who will pilot our trip to Harbour Island. With shifting sands and a narrow passage loaded with reefs, it is suggested you not make the trip without a pilot.
Well, today I guess we will meet Deidre's mom for a bit and then maybe do dinner in town at the Shipyard. Definitely going to the Anchor Snack Bar today for lunch if they are open.
The sun is out and it is warm!
