You are never too far from home
06 June 2018
We pull up anchor early to get our stern out of the channel and not upset the "flow". We motor to the entrance of the harbor to find that the Patuxent has a 2-3 foot chop. Greg calls them square waves......caused by the opposing wind and tide. We are setting rpms for the morning and within thirty minutes we find that our day will be spent with the wind on our nose as we head for Saint Michaels. The hobby horse feeling left as we entered deeper waters and the wave action settled down. We settled in for a day of motoring.
We have heard some folks from our home port on the radio off and on and have seen them on AIS (automatic identification system). Bella Donna along with Osprey are in Saint Michaels when we arrive. Osprey is on her way home (Regent Point) from New Hampshire. We immediately make contact and plans to have dinner together. What a great evening listening to their adventure with a new boat! We head back to Ti Amo as we are anchored out across from the Mariners Museum.
One note to all cruisers that read this......the ACME grocery store has closed up shop and currently there is only a small store that is in walking distance to the marina. I am told there are plans for the ACME building to be rebuilt into a two story facility with apartments on top and a new grocier to lease the bottom.
Tomorrow we will be up early and try to get to the Sassafras River.
