On the way to Cape May
08 June 2018
Up bright and early and on the road at 6:00AM. We wanted to get a jump on a long day up the C & D Canal and then the Delaware Bay. The Delaware Bay doesn’t seem as fierce as we remember from my past two experiences but it still makes for a long day of watching out for shipping traffic to Philadelphia or the canal.
Greg had talked with several about our trip and one group of friends told him about a cut at the entrance to Cape May that would cut an hour or better off our trip. We angst over it as we approached....calling a few folks we thought may be taking it with no response, we went for it anyway. As we were about to enter what Greg will now call “The Gauntlet”, Pearl radioed to ask if we would let him know how it was as he was hoping to do the same. Nothing like taking one for the team! It was a piece of cake! Thank you Carl for giving us those wave points and suggesting this to us.
There is a shark tournament in town which means the marinas are full of sport fishermen. We are at the Canyon Club Resort and are enjoying watching the fish come in. I offered my filet knife and they offered me to come get dirty and help clean their catch. All dressed for dinner, I decided to let them finish what they started.
Greg’s boyhood friend Lou Keenan met us at the dock for a beer and a tour of Ti Amo. After catching up on a few friends, we all head out to a lovely Italian dinner. Thanks so much Lou for dinner, the tour of your home, the town and just taking the time to meet us. It was special.
