Meeting your neighbor?
14 June 2018
The Atlantic proved to be gentle to us as we motored our way up to Sandy Hook with our mainsail out for stability. We
knew we would be anchoring about dinner time and we were on the money at 5 pm. We are inside the jetty at the Atlantic Highlands.
We sat back and took a few moments to enjoy a glass of wine and check out our surroundings. There was a beautiful new Maine Catamaran anchored right in front of us. To our surprise and feeble eyes, we saw Lancaster, VA as their home port. They went off to dinghy their dog to shore as we sat waiting to call them upon their return.
Turns out they have just purchased the catamaran and are taking her home from Maine. Second Star is the name of their lovely vessel. They live on the eastern branch of the Corrotoman beyond Sandy Point, which is one of our favorite anchorages. Nice to have "neighbors".
We sit down to our chicken Caesar salads and call it a day. Hopefully we are anchored well for the winds they have predicted and we will have a restful night.
