The anchorage was so peaceful our first night at least until about 1 o’clock in the morning. The wind picked up pretty strongly as it was gusting in the upper 20’s here in the anchorage between the jetty and the land mass behind us. The captain doesn’t normally get up in the night to check our anchor but our first night he did as the anchorage was full in anticipation of this weather event.
Yesterday was not a day for leaving as we saw very few attempt a departure. Most of our day was doing chores or working on other things that we were neglecting while sailing. The day found steady winds of 19-20knots with gusts to 25. I think with the wind direction we would have been taking a pounding but we only have about 3 hours to our next destination.
So with that.....today we head for anchoring holes near Ellis Island or Liberty State Park. We will see what is available and hopefully get off the boat for some walking today.
