Happy Fathers Day
17 June 2018
I am humbled by Fathers Day as I sit in this city.
Yesterday when we toured the 911 memorial and museum and could see the faces of those whose lives were taken, I am aware that each Fathers Day there are many here who have to remember this tragic day as they lost their father. Some were too small to remember their fathers or even 911, but each year there is at least the knowledge that they were robbed of enjoying this day as many of us do. The memorial with the endless pools and names etched in the stone were equally humbling.
Equally impressive is the new World Trade Center Building. It is a sleek, clean beacon that stands high above all the others in the city. Greg wanted to go to the observation level at the top but I was not in favor of that.
After several hours at the museum and a brisk walk around the harbor, we decided to stop at a local bar and just people watch. What a great city. I think to live here for a month or two would be all I could do, but the parks and the waterside make this part so inviting.
Greg and I grab our ferry back to the New Jersey side and make reservations for dinner at the marina restaurant. With an hour till dinner we do what we do best and that is sit in the cockpit and watch as the world goes by. Tomorrow we will head us the East River.
