So with our departure from Old Saybrook, the captain noticed that winds would not be favorable in a couple days to head from Mystic to Block Island, Rhode Island so we elected to head straight there.
A nice quiet ride with the wind on our nose most of the way, but we we getting quite a bit of current puisning us to 9 knots. We arrived with little trouble and plenty of room to drop our anchor or pick up a mooring. We elected to drop anchor as you own ground tackle (if maintained properly) is usually best.
After securing the snubber on the anchor and cleaning up a bit below, we drop the dinghy and head into shore to see the lay of the land. We are in the Grest Salt Pond anchorage with pretty good protection all around.
Before we got dinner on the table, a mighty fog started rolling in the anchorage. Within an hour you could not see your neighbor. It was crazy.
