Day Off?
27 July 2018
We know we will sit the day waiting for the strong southerly wind to die down so we can transit Buzzards Bay to Block Island.
So a day off would mean no sailing on this vessel but it does not mean you sit idle with nothing to do. No, while the day before Greg changed the oil and did his boat maintenance, today was my day. I like clean bilges and and I took the opportunity to make sure ours sparkled. From there I cleaned the cockpit and vacuumed the entire boat. Then I was busy cleaning bathrooms.
Now the ONLY reason I could do this was because Greg was not in the boat working on any projects. No, he was outside working on our navigation lights. That may seem silly, but when there is an interior boat project, it usually encompasses pulling things apart to find parts or wrenches and we are running into one another's space. So with the exterior project in his hands, I took advantage of the time to "clean house".
All chores completed we rest in the cockpit and watch the boats come in from the canal or from Buzzards Bay awaiting their early morning departure. We too will depart but we will head south to Block Island and await our outside transit to Cape May.
