A day at Cape May
01 August 2018
Most know that Cape May houses a pretty special guy to us .....the four legged kind....Fletcher. We had made arrangements with Greg’s boyhood friend Louie to come pick us up at the marina and drive us out to the barn.
We had secured Ti Amo in her slip at 11 o’clock and by noon Louie was pulling into the parking lot to escort us around. We went to the Lobster House for lunch and enjoyed our last clam chowder (dieting next on the list).
Lunch completed and now to Star Hollow Stables to see Fletcher and Abby. Louie has been in Cape May for some time so he knows all the back roads. To this day I still get confused making the trip to the barn. There he is asleep under the tree with his girlfriend Willow. Willow is a “Mini” and is totally infatuated with Fletcher. She can just about fit under his belly.
I step out of the car and go to the fence with tears of joy as I see him enjoying his rest in the shade. While I know he is content, I won’t be until I have him in his stall and we talk together as I groom him a bit. He was doing great and walked right to his stall and back out to his paddock once we were done. So good to see him and chat with Abby about how he was doing.
We are soon back on the road and headed to Louie’s “watering hole” where we got three drinks for under $10. That is amazing considering most drinks further north can be $10a piece. It was a nice stop and right on the Delaware Bay.
Back at Ti Amo, we say farewell and thanks to Louis and we prepare for a morning departure to the C&D Canal.
Off we go!
