Little Bay
06 August 2018
Just around the corner from home, we decide our last day or evening will be spent at Little Bay. A familiar hangout for folks from our marina as it is a good “overnight” excursion on a sailboat.
We did not sail one moment as the wind (which was minimal) was on the nose. It was probably one of the flattest we can ever remember seeing the bay.
With AIS (automatic identification system) you can see the names of boats in a radius near your boat. One gentleman callled and said “Ti Amo......I have someone of Italian descent and they believe your boat means I love you, would that be correct?” We got a chuckle and answered affirmatively.
Another boat hailed but this was a familiar name to us.....Breeze. Julie and Dixon were out and heard us and wanted to say a quick hello. They were headed to Little Bay for the evening along with our friends Allison and Barry or Errantry. It was going to be ALMOST like being home.
We made arrangements to have appetizers on Errantry so we could all gather and share stories. Julie and Dixon had their grandson Jack with them. That beautiful smile and big blue eyes make me more and more anxious to see our own grandchildren. While we adults shared tons of stories to catch up, Jack sat quietly and just listened.
Asked what was our favorite part of the trip and probably hands down it was Boothbay Harbor to Northeast Harbor. Though the fog was worse there and the lobster pots more plentiful, the beauty of the mountains, islands, homes, lighthouses and water were all well worth the trip “down-east”.
Home to Ti Amo and off to bed with visions of “home” in our heads.
Off to Regent Point and Rappa Run.
