Glenda’s Paradise
05 December 2018
So that is the name of the game. Glenda’s Paradise.
Some would say my paradise comes in many shapes and forms. And actually it really does. Anywhere I can find my grandchildren laughing and playing is probably one of my favorites. Follow that by being around family in general and good friends. Then there is the love of my life and time with him on our lovely boat Ti Amo (along with our sidekick).
The sign Glenda’s Paradise was found in Bimini, Bahamas on our first venture and a dear friend made me this little reminder that I have used as a bookmark for the last three years.
Well last night that bookmark (in use in one long, hard to get into book) was almost destroyed as was the book in what was an overnight passage gone bad.
With the best advice we took off from Charleston in hopes of staying out until Friday morning and knocking out some miles. We were hoping to get to Stuart Florida.
Our evening started off lovely. You will see from the pictures we had a beautiful sunset following a simple dinner in the cockpit. We even had a few dolphin come play for a while. BUT......that did not last much past 9:00 pm. The winds grew as did the waves. 30-40 knot winds and 5-7 foot waves. Things below that never move were being tossed from side to side as the waves came one after another.
Unfortunately the captain held the brunt of the work as one of us was ill and then there was a puppy who was scared. The best I could offer was to stay out of the way and be supportive. Greg did a great job of manuerving Ti Amo to the best angle for the next seven hours without a break. He was exhausted and kept it all together and thought quickly about alternative plans. When I was finally able to get back in the cockpit he already had us heading into St. Mary’s Inlet and we were within 3 hours.
Safely inside an anchorage and out of the weather. Glenda’s Paradise today is being here .....showered.....finally able to hold down food.....enjoying the rest of this day with Greg and Jaxon without fear of flying objects.
