Another Work Day
19 December 2018
With so many things on the “to-do” list, we are up early hoping to knock the remainder out.
Interesting that because we are on a wall, we can get diesel fuel delivered rather than having to find a marina on our way out of the Keys. Sure enough much like the propane guy at home, the fuel truck pulls up and brings the hose to the boat. We only took 137 gallons, but we were happy to top off the tanks and be prepared for departure when we return from Christmas.
Our last item was the enclosure zipper that needed replacing and before the end of the day Larry returned the pieces ready to be installed.
We are beginning to think the Keys are a place we wouldn’t mind spending more time. The folks are so friendly and easy going and always willing to help one another.
We heard stories of how folks came together during Hurricane Irma and helped each other clean up. Our friends lost one of their homes but the other two were in fairly good shape so they moved into one of them. The old house remains were removed and they now have a beautiful area to sit and enjoy the harbor. It is their “ beach”:
One of their neighbors invited us for cocktails so we enjoyed getting to know Lars, Dorrit, and Tony. Lars and Dorrit are Danish and spend about 180 days in the Keys and the remainder of the year in Denmark. They have a gorgeous sailboat that Greg keeps threatening he would love to buy. It is gorgeous and Dorrit maintains the brite work on it.....and there is a lot of it to do. A nice evening.
Now to pack up for the journey home.
