Another great sail
19 January 2019 | Crab Cay, Georgetown, Exuma
We are up early for a 9:00 departure for Georgetown. We wave goodbye to our friends and head south again. Most the folks we have been hanging with are going to stay at Lee Stocking for this upcoming blow.
We had about 20 knots to begin with on the front of the beam. We set the jibsheet and were were doing 6 to 7 knots. It was quite fun. Jaxon slept most of the trip as most days he has worn himself out running the beaches.
When we arrive in Georgetown, Twilight Traveler hails us and we head to where they are anchored as it is protected for all the wind directions we are anticipating. With five or six boats in the anchorage already, we knew it would be tight, but it is a great spot.
We drop the dinghy and head over for a quick hello to Vicky, Ron and Ruby as we are heading to the grocery store. We arrive at the store and I am so excited to see full shelves and well stocked fruits and vegetables. Just to give you an idea of how costly things are here, the small bottle of salad dressing was $9.52. Limes at $.40 each is a great bargain. Potatoe chips are $5- $6 depending on brand name. Oh well, we did not need too much but have not have fresh fruit or veggies for a while so this is a treat. Meanwhile Jaxon is making all kinds of new friends.
We head back to Ti Amo and pack our groceries away and head to the beach to meet Ruby. Jaxon and Ruby need some time to play on "common ground" and run those little legs. Jaxon at first was somewhat timid but after a few barks "come on and play with me" from Ruby, he finally chimed in. They had a blast and they were quite the entertainment.
So good to catch up with Vicky and Ron. We have not seen them since our season that ended in 2017. So much to catch up on but we call it a day when the sun leaves the beach so we can get the pups home and bathed. Tomorrow will be a new day.
