Joe’s Sound
31 January 2019 | Joes Sound, Long Island Bahamas
I am not sure what is happening, but this year has been the best sailing year for Ti Amo in the Bahamas. It was a great sail due east of the Conch Cay Cut to Long Island Glinton Sound.
We were the first out followed by Two Outrageous and Grace V. They were both fishing and catching and even releasing (barracuda) at times. Tim on Grace V landed a nice Mahi and the call was made for dinner. But we still needed to drop anchor somewhere.
Two Outrageous and Ti Amo lead the charge in trying to find the best anchorage for a night or two out of the surge. With two anchorages not fitting “the bill”, Ti Amo is challenged to try Joe’s Sound. Two Outrageous had looked and was not sure he would do it, but when challenged, Ti Amo went in. The entrance is 20 feet wide and appears to have a sand spit just as you enter. It is not enough to stop the captain as he eyes the boats in the anchorage. So I hold my breath as we go in hoping not to hit rock or sand and we did not. The anchorage is skinny but there is room for all.
Now to worry about dinner plans. Fresh Mahi, chicken, rice, mango salsa, and coleslaw. It was truly a delightful dinner with delightful folks. Hopefully more hunting and fishing (or cathching) to be done.
