Great anchorage
01 February 2019 | Joes Sound, Long Island Bahamas
A new day has dawned and we are out to investigate our surroundings.
Tim and Paul are out hunting while Karen, Laurie and I go explore the beaches and islands. Greg and Jaxon take off to snorkel and explore a little themselves.
It is a lovely place that at high tide the water clears out and most of what is left is this skinny passage of water we are anchored in surrounded by wet sand. We are currently sitting in twenty feet of water but another couple of yards from us is less than 2 feet. And that less than 2 feet banks both sides of this sliver of water that we now call home for a couple of days.
Tim and Paul caught two lobsters so they are added to the count needed for Lobster Etoufee which Laurie has agreed to make. We will pull together a salad or something to go with that.
We had a gathering of folks on the beach for appetizers and cocktails. Mike and Lorraine from North Carolina, Billy and Julie on Jubilee II, John and Sheri on Lost Shaker, Kristoff and Stacy on Delphina, Pat and Annette on the House Boat (Mayor of Joes Sound), Tim and Karen on Grace V, Paul and Laurie on 2 Outrageous and then Greg and I. Sixteen folks.....It was great to meet them all and most all are going to the Acklins and Crooked Island as well.
Snacks, drinks, guitar playing and singing along with a fire ..... who could ask for more. We stay until the bugs drive us away. A great evening.
